Here you’ll find a complete list of all the equipment that I use to film and edit my YouTube videos. Even though I may get a commission from items purchased through these links, I want you to know that I really do use these tools while making my videos every week.

I’ll do my best to update this list as I add or upgrade equipment. So take a look around, I hope you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Audio

In my first videos I just used the built-in mic on my cellphone—but the quality wasn’t very good. So, I upgraded to the small lav mic, and eventually I invested in the Blue Yeti. A lav mic is still a handy tool that I like to keep around for times when I’m not filming at my desk.

Video

Right now, I currently film my videos on the Sony Alpha ZV-E10. For the first 15 or so videos, I filmed with an old cellphone. The front-facing camera isn’t exactly 4k quality, but it got the job done.

Lighting

Lighting is everything. It’s important for dramatic effect, but proper lighting also makes the quality of my video actually appear better.

Editing

I chose a solid laptop for my video editing. I went with 32 GB of Ram—but if my wallet would have let me at the time I would have selected 64 GB. It’s much needed for some Adobe programs like After Effects, but right now I mostly just use Photoshop and Premiere Pro with Adobe’s Creative Cloud subscription. So, I’m good for now.

*You can buy a subscription to Photoshop and Premiere separately, but it may be more cost effective to buy a Creative Cloud subscription (they’re both included in that along with access to all of Adobe’s other apps).

Accessories

These are mostly just a few odds and ends that I found myself needing during production. And, that mouse? Yeah that’s not a necessity, I just really like it.
